IT field support engineer

An experienced 2nd line engineer looking for the opportunity to take the next step up to a 3rd line senior engineer is required for a growing company in Stoke on Trent in the IT support department.

The role will involve providing 1st-3rd line desktop, software, application and server support.

The job is permanent and full time.

Salary starting from £16k to £25 dependant on experience and qualifications.

Must live with in 50 miles of Stoke on Trent to be considerd for this particular role

The Successful IT Support Engineer will be very client focused, possess excellent communication skills and have strong technical experience as well as a good sense of humour, strong work ethic and flexibility to work with a variety of systems and customers.The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with technical and non-technical users, excellent customer facing skills with a view to developing new or existing business with our present clients, in a pre-sales technical role.

The following skills are essential for this role

Proven track record and demonstrable technical mastery of most or all of the following:

Proven fault finding /diagnosis /technical experience in Windows Server 2003/2008

Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Server(2003/2007/2010)

Hosted MS solutions

Networking concepts including WAN /LAN, networking including DNS,TCP/IP, DHCP etc.

Experience of working with WatchGuard Firewalls, online Backup solutions, & Microsoft Applications

Helpdesk experience

Experience in a customer facing role e.g.Field or onsite Engineer

Ability to work well within a team

Ability to work in a pressured environment

Flexible approach to working hours

proven track record ability to adapt to new technologies and willingness to learn and get "hands on" where required

Teaching skills to trainees and junior engineers, 1st line support

Experience with virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V etc..)

Full driving licence essential and own vehicle preferred – expenses will be paid

In addition to the above skills the following knowledge would also be advantageous.

Experience working with Apple and Linux operating systems
